Review: The Silver Feather

The Silver Feather The Silver Feather by Joanne Van Leerdam
My rating: 5 of 5 stars

The Silver Feather by Joanne Van Leerdam

A ghostly tale written by an acclaimed poet but poetry is not her only specialty.

This short tale takes you on a journey through the graveyard and death. The author weaves a tale of suspense and thrills keeping you guessing until the very end. I hope the author enchants us with more stories that we can enjoy as much as this one!

Well done! Can't wait for more!

100 Wild Mushrooms Memoirs of the ‘60s by Eva Pasco

What can I say? Blast from the past and much more! The detail in these memoirs is incredible. The author has taken me back to times that have been long forgotten about, until reading this book.

To go back to my childhood and remember all the little things that have drifted out of my memories over the decades is nothing short of FUN. The author's mixture of humor and heart felt moments make these memoir's an enjoyable read. I love being whisked away to an easier time and my innocence of childhood, which several decades of life struggles have made murky at best. The family drive, the ice cream truck, tagging along with my older sister (even when she didn't want me there) are just the tip of the iceberg of inclusions in this book of memoir's and we can all relate to every page.

I loved this book and want to thank the author for taking me on a trip I didn't even know I wanted to go on! Well done!

Review: The Dragon Warrior of Kri: A Shiva XIV Story

The Dragon Warrior of Kri: A Shiva XIV Story The Dragon Warrior of Kri: A Shiva XIV Story by Lyra Shanti
My rating: 5 of 5 stars

This short was an excellent story following Meddhi as he trains and becomes a warrior. It's a great introduction to the Shiva world that the author has created.

I haven't read the Shiva series and this short makes me want to explore more of this universe and the people in it.

Nicely written, intriguing and well paced! Highly recommended!

Review: She's Not Gone

She's Not Gone She's Not Gone by Sarah Northwood
My rating: 4 of 5 stars

I received an ARC copy of this novel in exchange for an honest review.

The story recounts Katie's journey through domestic violence which can be a very difficult subject to write about. But this story isn't about the beatings Katie suffered, it's more about how she felt and her actions throughout the ordeal.

It was hard for me to read because I'm a strong person who would never stick around a relationship such as this one. I suppose I'm on the other end of the spectrum and would kill the... you know what. But I know that these relationships exist and I know woman are subjected to this more than we like to think or realize. So my offering is this... if you are in an abusive relationship, run as fast as you can. There are plenty of people in this day and age who will help you. There is help! That wasn't always the case, and many women have died because they couldn't get help. You can, so run and run now. Don't wait, just do it!

The second half of the story added an interesting twist which was really enjoyable. So kudos to the author for ending on a high note which these stories so often do not.

Review: Keep the Faith, Ellen McGuire

Keep the Faith, Ellen McGuire Keep the Faith, Ellen McGuire by Donna Walo Clancy
My rating: 4 of 5 stars

Christmas Miracles! Who doesn't love a good Christmas story? I for one love Christmas and a novel about Christmas is even better.

This story is about a town losing their faith and the one woman who can restore it. Well written with a good flow and pace, the only thing I could point out is the story was similar to other classic tales, so the plot wasn't completely original.

Overall a good book to curl up to!

Review: Void

Void Void by David Staniforth
My rating: 5 of 5 stars

What an engrossing mystery from page one the author sucked me in until the very end. It's not often I read something without figuring out the ending, but this one had me stumped all the way through.

The story had a great flow and pacing was spot on throughout the novel. The main character Tom Gardener was engaging, believable and a complete mystery.

I loved this story from beginning to end and highly recommend it!

Well done Mr. Staniforth!

Review: Found

What a great story, well written and flowed along great. I have to say I loved the style of this author which pulled me into the story right from page one.

Darwin is a regular guy living in what seems like a normal world but his life is anything but normal.

There are 5 books to this series that I read within a couple of days I was so hooked. And I'm happy to see there is now a novel to follow these 5 books, which I intend to start reading right away.

Great job! Keep up the great story!
